What can you do to make Calgary a more sustainable city?
The development of
The imagineCALGARY Plan for Long Range Urban Sustainability engaged more than 18,000 Calgarians in the world’s largest civic visioning process ever undertaken. The Plan itself was completed in 2006, and has helped position Calgary as a leader in the sustainability arena, both nationally and internationally. In 2007, the imagineCALGARY Plan received prestigious sustainability planning awards from both the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association.
The plan has also been influential in the development of other sustainability plans in locations including Saint John, New Brunswick, Portland, Oregon and Durban, South Africa.
To date, 52 organizations have signed on as imagineCALGARY Partners committed to acting towards the Vision, Goals and Targets of The imagineCALGARY Plan. These organizations are using the Plan in innovative ways that demonstrate their dedication to a more sustainable future.
